About Falsa
Phalsa fruit is available in india during the month of may and june.It's very delicate and perishable fruit. it's difficult to transport.and this is one of the reason it's not available throughout the world.
It's mostly eaten fresh with salt and black pepper or chat masala also.
Nutrients are present in Phalsa:
Good levels of Potassium, low levels of Sodium, rich in Vitamin C, Calcium, Phosphorus and fibre.
The fruit peel has the highest antioxidant activity followed by the pulp and then the seeds.
The fruits also offer radiation protection.
The leaves also exhibit antioxidant activity.
Phalsa Jam
Ingridients:-
- 500 Gm of falsa berries
- 1.5 cup of sugar
- 5 Gm of cinnamon stick (dalchini)
- 2-3 nos of green cardamom (hari ilaichi)
- 1/2 teaspoon of fennel seed(sauf)
- black salt to taste
Preparation Method:-
- Soak phalsa in water for 30 min.
- Strain out the falsa into water.
- Mash the falsa and remove the seeds.
- Take a deep pot pan add mashed falsa and sugar and cook until dry.
- Take another pan and add all whole spices ( cinnamon stick,green cardamom,fennel seed) roast them and grind into powder form.
- Add powdered spice and black salt into jam mixture and mix it well.
- Cool the jam serve with breads.
